In the midst of the pandemic, the show must go on especially with the Grammy Awards. The host for this year is no other than Trevor Noah himself to take on the role. But before diving into this speel, let’s take a step back to learn about the new host for 2021.

Who is Trevor Noah?

If you guys don’t know already, he is the host for the news circuit of the Daily Show. Initially, he began his journey in the comedy route in 2015 after moving from South Sudan to the United States. That’s where his life changed forever. From there, it boosted his career.

Before being known as Trevor Noah, he was actually a stepping in for Jon Stewart’s hosting gig. What made him become an individual and less than a ‘replacement’ was during the election of 2016 facing someone no other than President Donald J. Trump

In a Hollywood Reporter interview, Trevor brought in a different perspective, than most hosts. “I know what it’s like to live in a country that’s extremely divided by race — where people feel like it’s crashing every day and they don’t trust that their president has their best interests at heart,” he said. “And we joke about it not to minimize it but to try and heal the wounds. Where there’s no conflict, pain or tragedy, I don’t know what to do. I’m a horrible superfluous comic. If anything, I’m only trained in this.”

As he quickly progressed into his role on the Daily Show, out came a new book. He not only was nominated for the Emmy’s and had several attributes to his career, but he also published a book called “Trevor Noah: Born a Crime” during Nov. 2016 that became New York Times bestseller instantly.

His book not only focused on his progression as a young comedian, but also provided insight of how racism has shaped his life. “I think sometimes it’s nice to have perspective on these issues, just so that you understand that it’s not a unique problem that one country deals with, but rather an idea that society as a whole deals with across borders,” said Noah in a Wbur interview.

Overall within his book, he hopes that readers will learn how to define yourself on your own terms instead of letting others do it for you. Read it and weep people!

From all of his accomplishments, he is the triple threat in the industry of being a comedian, host, and author. Those titles come with perks for Trevor Noah, but now he can add a new title. All the work paid off because it landed him the gig with the Grammy Awards.

In a Variety interview, he gave his insight of the coveted new role he earned.

“I think as a one-time Grammy nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona.) See you at the 63rd Grammys!,” he said.

Gimme All The Details!

The rave of Trevor Noah continues because he WILL be hosting this year’s Grammy Awards and here’s why:

The decision was based off of his previous work and experience with nominations along with the Daily Show. According to a source in Vulture, it came down to Harvey Mason Jr. decision as the chair and interim president/CEO of the Recording Academy. “With a knack for keeping viewers engaged and entertained, Trevor is the perfect choice to lead us through what’s sure to be an incredible evening full of music, unforgettable moments, unity and inspiration. He is a dynamic host, comedian and personality, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Grammy stage as host of Music’s Biggest Night for the first time.”

What an honor for him to carry on the big hosting duties for the Grammy Awards! I believe that we owe him a big congratulations on his accomplishment. Kudos to you!
