Demi Lovato as Host of PCA’s

Demi Lovato hosted the show and appeared in numerous outfit changes throughout the show. She even appeared in a long blonde wig throughout the show since she is a brunette. Demi opened the show talking about what happened during her 2020. This is what she said during her opening monologue:

“I’m so excited to be here tonight because honestly this year has been the longest 3 years of my life! Don’t get me wrong, it started out amazing! I performed at the Grammys and sung the National Anthem at the Super Bowl!  But then COVID hit, and everything shut down, so I did what everyone else did, I went into lockdown mode and got engaged! I got into painting, photography, mediation, tested the limits of Postmates Unlimited! I also didn’t know this could happen, but I reached the end of Instagram four times! I binged seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, got unengaged,  then went looking for aliens in the desert so basically, the same as everyone else!”

Jennifer Lopez Accepts Biggest Award of the Night

Jennifer Lopez was presented with the People’s Icon Award at the 2020 PCA’s. Actor, Armie Hammer, presented her the award and gave a little speech about her before she came out. They also showed a short clip of her throughout her career and life involving her fans, accomplishments, movies, and music. She walked across the stage and was surprised by messages from Renee Zellweger, Nicole Kidman, and Jennifer’s children, Max and Emme. Jennifer’s children left her a congratulations message which brought her to tears as she was shocked and so happy.

Jennifer gave her acceptance speech after and said, “Oh, my god 2020 man, 2020 was no joke, right? I mean, before 2020 we were obsessing about winning this award, getting nominated for that award, we were caught up on who sold the most records or who had the biggest box office opening or crazy stuff. This year was the great leveler. It showed us what mattered, what didn’t and for me, reinforced what matters most – People helping each other, loving each other, being kind to each other. And the importance of that connection, that human touch and I realize it’s what I strive for in everything I do, to reach people, to touch people. I believe that’s what we all want, shared experiences, to know that we’re not in this alone. Your belief and your faith in me motivates me to keep going and sometimes when I’m tired or beaten down like a lot of us have been this year, it’s my family, my friends, my babies and my fans, you guys, who have lifted me up when I couldn’t lift myself.”
