Personal development during the pandemic, PD in the PanD, should become a definite ritual for a lot of us if not all of us. Last year I read a book “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod (https://miraclemorning.com/) and found myself inside this book, twice, during the PanD. In this book Hal discusses his personal journey through life and how waking up one hour earlier to do personal development activities changed his life and how it can change ours as well.

What is Personal Development?

According to skillsyouneed.com, “Personal development is a lifelong process. It is a way for people to assess their skills and qualities, consider their aims in life and set goals in order to realize and maximize their potential.” There is no better time than the present to level up. Since beginning to incorporate this routine into my life I have experienced major changes in thought process, the way I respond to situations, what I do in my free time, how I spend and what direction I really want to be going.

This book is a step by step guide to engage yourself before getting your day started with 6 points of personal development to be done 10 mins each, he has named this S.A.V.E.R.S. (Silence, Affirmations, Visualization, Exercise, Reading, Scribing). Examples are given to incorporate these 6 things into habits and begin a new progressive life.

SAVERS

A great acronym for these activities of PD because this routine does save; your time, sanity and overall being, especially during these challenging times, for life. With everything going on in the world this is something you can do for yourself and it doesn’t cost you anything and it can be done from the safety of your home. Tips to gain momentum during the first 10 days of the new lifestyle and personal journey

The introduction if the book is of tragedy, success and triumph. Honestly it makes you root for someone who seems like all odds are against them, if you have ever gone through numerous bad things at one time to whatever degree you will understand fully.  A quote that really struck me right at the beginning.

“I realized this is the problem for all of us. We all want Level 10 success, in every area of our lives- health, happiness, finances, relationships, career, spirituality you name it-but if our levels of personal development (knowledge, experience, mindset, beliefs, etc.) in any given area are not at a Level 10, then life is always going to be a struggle.”

Major Benefit

Chapters continue with self questions and each personal development exercise is discussed in detail. The Miracle Morning gives advice, further readings, amazing quotes and knowledge that really help to clear clutter in our minds for a new found freedom, mental freedom that is.

A 6 minute routine is provided for a quick energy and mental boost. There were days when I don’t want to get out of bed, this routine has me excited to get up. This book on PD is called The Miracle Morning, it can be your Miracle Afternoon, Evening or 3 am, whatever you like.

Why Should I Do Personal Development?

This is a great time to make get to know ourselves a lot better, what’s the worst that could happen? Top celebrities such as Oprah, Bill Gates, and Will Smith utilize the benefits of meditation on a daily basis. Others such as Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs developed their own morning routines. The “Seinfeld Strategy”, a routine where you try “not to break the chain” of successful tasks. If I was able to find these people, how many more successful powerful people are out there with similar routines?

We all have different definitions of success, therefore the road to getting there is different for everyone. We want to get to our next level, The Miracle Morning is a great first step to getting there. Allowing yourself to grow is as big a challenge as it is a reward. Remember to be comfortable with whatever you do because we are all living for a legacy.
