Disney fans rejoice! During the annual Disney Investor Day last Thursday, a deluge of announcements were made, including updates on Star Wars, Marvel, Disney Animation projects, as well as DisneyPlus. Here’s the rundown of the 50+ projects that have us super excited and have plenty of A-listers in the mix!

Star Wars

If you’re loving The Mandalorian on Disney+, then get ready to welcome ten new Star Wars series. Yes, you read right. There’s going to be 10!!! Disney promises a total of nine series to be added to DisneyPlus starting Fall 2021 and also plans on delivering a whole new film directed by Patty Jenkins, director of Wonder Woman 1984.

Now, not entirely sure we’re gonna get more of Baby Yoda in any of the new projects, but we are getting some iconic comebacks! Canadian actor, Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Darth Vader in the Ewan McGregor led series, Obi-wan Kenobi. It has been 15 years since both Christensen and McGregor portrayed their Star Wars characters, so the news is beyond exciting.

Disney Animation and Pixar

With 15 projects in the works, Disney Animation and Pixar will keep our attention locked on every series and film planned to launch in the next three years. While 2020 might not have been Disney’s year in regard to their biggest films getting delayed, the studio will turn the page and continue to deliver more magic.

Captain America actor, Chris Evans will have one of his biggest goals accomplished as he’s poised to star in Lightyear, an origin story for Buzz Lightyear. Evans will voice the beloved Toy Story character and although fans voiced discontent over Tim Allen not being a part of the film, the Boston native assured everyone on Instagram that there was nothing to get upset over.

A live-action adaption of Peter Pan will also be flying onto DisneyPlus later next year! The film titled Peter Pan & Wendy stars Yara Shahidi in the role of Tinker Bell and Jude Law as Captain Hook. Due to the ongoing pandemic Peter Pan & Wendy filming was delayed from April 2020 to March 2021, but if the casting is anything to go by the wait will definitely be worth it.

Also joining the MCU in 2021 will be Hailee Steinfeld as she takes on the role of Kate Bishop in the much-anticipated DisneyPlus series, Hawkeye. Original Avenger Jeremy Renner is set to return and perhaps pass on his mantle. Steinfeld and Renner are currently in New York bracing the snowy weather as they begin filming the upcoming series.

After more than a handful of tries, Fantastic 4 is finally getting the Disney touch! Marvel’s first family is currently in development with Spider-Man: Homecoming director, Jon Watts at the helm. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are fan favorites to take on the roles of Reed Richards and Sue Storm.
