The two successful rappers, Cardi B and Offset, have always struggled with their relationship. They have been married nearly three years now and within those three years, their stardom has flourished. They share a daughter, Kulture, together; however, their relationship has been a rollercoaster since the beginning.
Cardi first mentioned her friendship in February of 2017 when they both attended the Superbowl together. Later Cardi had posted a picture on her Instagram story with the caption being, “my friend… you know what I’m saying?” At the time, we fans did not know what she was saying. In a 2018 issue of Rolling Stones, Offset confirmed that the 2017 Superbowl had been their first official date. A few short weeks later Cardi is posting Valentine’s Day pictures of the two of them pretty much alluring that she and Offset are together.
However, in June of 2017, she continues to deny that she is dating Offset. She said, “It’s been a blessing, me meeting him and meeting his friends. I see how hard they work. And that motivated me to work even harder,” she told Fader. “And I see how good things are going for them and how popping it is to be number one. And I’m like, I want that.” In August of 2017, there is still no confirmation that the two are dating, however, she makes an incredibly funny comment while on Charlamagne Tha God’s radio show. She says, “I’m a woman. Every woman, I think, wants to get married and wants to have children. It’s never too early to get married now. You know, if you want to propose to me, you can.” To our surprise, it seemed to have worked. What happens next, will surprise all who love and adore the Cardi B and Offset duo. Let’s take a look into the wonderful dating life of the two infamous rappers, shall we?
The Start of Their Downward (Upward) Spiral
Here we go, finding our way across the windy roads of two of the most well know musicians bulldozing the music industry; even while a nationwide pandemic occurs. To start off saying, We aren’t really sure where the relationship started to get bumpy, so throughout this timeline you will see only time will tell, literally, where the two have thrived as a power duo, and where they have fallen as your average, everyday civilians that face the same empty scuffles that most people face in their day to day lives.
They wed back in September of 2017, in complete secrecy from the media. Fans later found out in June of 2018 that the two had been married almost a year and in February one of Cardi’s staff members let it slip, ironically at a Superbowl party, that Cardi was pregnant at which later on TMZ got a hold of that information and was able to make it known to the public that Cardi B and Offset would be expecting their first child together.
Fast-forwarding to July 10, 2018, the couple welcomed Kulture Kiari Cephus into the world. However, they did not immediately share videos or pictures with their loyal fans. A short five months later, Cardi announced on Instagram that she and Offset had broken up. The reason for their breakup was due to the infidelity rumors that had been following Offset for quite some time now. Offset tried to publicly win Cardi back during a Rolling Loud festival where he had a flower arrangement set up on stage that read, “Take me Back, Cardi”. Fans could argue that Offset is one for grand gestures, especially when it comes to his wife and relationship.
The Madness Continues…
In December of 2019, Cardi had opened up to Vogue about the troubles in her and her husband, Offset’s, relationship. Cardi said, “When me and my husband got into our issues—you know, he cheated and everything—and I decided to stay with him and work together with him, a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me,” she said. She had also gone on to say, “But it’s real-life sh*t. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you’re depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you’re not happy on the inside until you have the conversation.” The cheating rumors that surfaced, had thrown Cardi for a loop. People always assume, when it comes to celebs, cheating is just within reach. However, looking at the social media posts that both artists share, you wouldn’t think either one of them would have the conscious mind to cheat.
From what fans could see, Cardi and Offset appeared to be flourishing over the next several months of their relationship. When the COVID-19 virus broke back in March, Cardi and Offset seemed to have been holding things together. In July, right in the heat of the pandemic, Cardi and Offset threw their daughter her second birthday celebration. Cardi had posted pictures of her, Kulture, and Offset captioning them, “Ok it’s time to turn up”. Following the family photo, Cardi posted some more PG-13 posts of her and Offset dancing on one another and finally, a post of Offset dancing to one of Michael Jackson’s hit songs, ‘Rock With You’. Their love seemed as intimate as ever, at least to the eyes of social media.
Without any indication of drama in their paradise, fans were quite surprised in September of 2020 when Cardi announced that she had filed for divorce. Cardi had revealed that she, “got tired of f*****g arguing.” She stated that there was no cheating involved. She was just fed up with the back and forth. We have all learned however that Offset can handle anything with the power of money. In October for Cardi’s birthday, she was gifted with a custom black Rolls-Royce during her Vegas bash. There was also a giant pink billboard purchased in Cardi’s honor that read, “Happy Birthday Mommy, Love Kulture” which Cardi then videoed and posted on her Instagram with the caption, “Thank you sir. I love it”. Those are quite the gifts to give your wife after she filed for divorce, don’t you think?
Surviving Love or Conquering The Inevitable?
Cardi B and Offset struggle very heavily in their relationship. Publicly, they seem to be able to put on brave and confident faces for their fans. Their Instagram’s, however, are nothing shy of intimate. The constant postings at family gatherings (even during the nationwide pandemic) lead fans to believe that for now, the two will remain the same strong power couple that they have been these last three years. The future for them is an uncertain one. With all the back and forth controversy between Offset’s cheating scandals and the obvious ways to win his woman over, we spectators don’t know whether their relationship will eventually break and lead to divorce or stay solid. I guess we can just hope for the best, or in Offset’s case, hope that money will always solve his relationship issues. For now, the two seem to be working hard to maintain their relationship for the sake of their child and the sake of their careers. What’s a strong woman without her man by her side?
In Offset’s recent Instagram post (December 17, 2020), he captioned a picture of himself and Cardi, “Blessed to have you in my arms”. For now, that is… We will eventually see another possible break up, or divorce attempt, unfold as the year 2021 approaches. Do we love Cardi B and Offset together? Absolutely. Does that mean they are mean to work out? Probably not. Cardi B is (supposed to be) raising a strong woman within the crippling society we call a new generation. How is she supposed to provide her daughter with a confident female figure when she and her husband can’t ever seem to get their relationships away from the media? Cardi needs to think about what she is doing in regards to her daughter and less about what Offset is doing on the side. The relationship drama between Offset and Cardi B will most likely continue throughout 2021, but ultimately, as loyal fans, we will continue to root for the couple to stay together. And here you have it: Who would Cardi B without Offset? Who will she be if they don’t last?
