Beyoncé Giselle Knowles is one of the hottest commodities known all around the world. Married to her equally famous rapper husband, Jay-Z, Beyoncé started her career way before the two became a pair. Beyoncé was born in Houston, Texas on September 4, 1981, making her 39 years old. Beyoncé and Jay-Z have three beautiful children together and their careers seem to have not slowed down since they started their family. However, Beyoncé made a name for herself well before meeting Shawn Carter.
At the young age of 16, Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child, the group that launched Beyoncé’s career, released their hit remix “No, No, No”. A few short months later, in January, the group dropped their first hit single in the UK, “With Me”, produced by Jermaine Dupri. Four weeks following, they released their self-titled album. The stardom quickly accumulated for Destiny’s Child and over the course of the year, the hit songs continued. In 2002, Beyoncé released her first solo single, “Work It Out”, for contribution to the Austin Powers movie soundtrack. A short six months later, Beyoncé and Jay-Z release their hit, “03 Bonnie and Clyde”. Things began taking off for Beyoncé and heating up romantically for her and now-husband Jay-Z. The hits continued coming for Beyoncé, one after another. First, releasing her debut album, Dangerously in Love, then, her hit single, “Crazy in Love”, following the release of her single “Baby Boy”. Needless to say, Beyoncé is killing it as a soloist. In 2004, Destiny’s Child recorded their fourth and final studio album. In 2005, after a world tour, the trio announced their split saying, they wanted to leave “on a high note, united in our friendship and filled with an overwhelming gratitude for our music, our fans and each other.” What a great way to split, if you ask me.
’03 Bonnie and Clyde
Beyoncé and Jay-Z continued growing their love from 2001 until their wedding date in April of 2008. Their happiness was radiant to fans, and the two couldn’t be more iconic if they tried. In 2011, at the VMA’s, Beyoncé announced on stage while performing her hit, “Love on Top”, that she and Jay-Z were expecting their first child. Her belly rubbing gesture gave away that she was, indeed, pregnant. Fast forward to January 7, 2012, when they welcomed their oldest daughter, Blue Ivy into the world. Just about a year later, Beyoncé releases her autobiography, Life is But a Dream, allowing fans to see the life she shares with her husband and their baby girl.
Summer 2013 starts heating up when Jay-Z releases his Magna Carta Holy Grail album, which features a collab between him and his wife. Continuing, Beyoncé also drops her self-titled album which included another husband and wife collaboration, “Drunk in Love”, which the two presume to perform at the 2014 Grammy’s. Up until this point, it seems that Beyoncé is confident and thriving in her career, she and her husband are nothing but (drunk) in love, and their family dynamic appears to be striving with the wealth and fame. They hands down, have become one of the biggest power couples that the world has had the pleasure of following. What could possibly rock the boat at this point?
May of 2014 was definitely the storm that shook the Knowles-Carter clan. Reports say, after the Met Gala, videos of Solange Knowles (Beyoncé’s sister) began surfacing of the infamous Jay-Z/Solange elevator throw down. Solange began attacking Jay-Z over speculation of infidelity rumors. Of course, the family was shook by the events that had taken place that night and released this statement, “There has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident. But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family. The reports of Solange being intoxicated or displaying erratic behavior throughout that evening are simply false. At the end of the day, families have problems and we’re no different. We love each other and above all we are family. We’ve put this behind us and hope everyone else will do the same.” At least they were able to put this incredulous fight behind them, for now.
As summer 2014 approaches, the power duo begins their On The Run tour despite the rumors that had surfaced just a little over a month prior. With the tour coming to an end and the two retreating to their daily routines, a short while later in April of 2015, Jay-Z releases a never-before-seen wedding video for their seventh anniversary. Since then, Jay-Z’s Instagram account has been deleted, but what a kind way to show the woman he loves how much with that exclusive for the world to see. There is nothing that can break this bond after that.
Becky With the Good Hair
Lemonade is hands down one of Beyoncé’s most forthcoming albums known to our generation. However, Lemonade would’ve never been created without the help of loving husband, Jay-Z. Most probably assume Jay-Z collaborated a few songs and helped produce, but sadly, that is not the case. The reason for the success of this album is due to what we never expected. In April 2016, we find out about “Becky With The Good Hair”. Yikes, I don’t think anyone was expecting this.
The infidelity rumors the two were faced with this time a year ago have resurfaced themselves and gave Beyoncé incentive to birth the album Lemonade with songs that include “Hold Up” and “Sorry”, alluding to Jay-Z stepping out on Beyoncé with “Becky”. Her lyrics read, “He only want me when I’m not there / He better call Becky with the good hair,”. Of course, Becky isn’t the name of Jay’s alleged partner, just a representation of women all over.
The two had been on the mend in the upcoming year, Beyoncé of course shouted out her husband during her formation tour, and then a few months later, announced her pregnancy. The two obviously were willing to make their relationship solid again and expand on the family front.
Rumi, Sir, and Becky?
The news of twins shocked most of us a little, especially after the catastrophe the couple endured just a year prior to their pregnancy announcement. Although we aren’t thrilled about what happened between the two, the idea of bringing in two more genetically perfect children wasn’t so bad. June 13, 2017, is now marked in history as Rumi and Sir Carter’s birthday.
There is no better time like the birth of children to finally come clean about the rumors; 17 days later, Jay-Z dropped album 4:44 which included lyrics that hinted at his infidelity. He rapped, “I apologize, our love was one for the ages and I contained us / And if my children knew, I don’t even know what I would do / If they ain’t look at me the same / I would prolly die with all the shame.” They always say, when there’s good news, bad news follows right behind.
Everything is Love
These two, however, never want to give up on the love they so obviously cherish. In 2018, the couple is back at it and on tour again, with the anticipation of their joint album, Everything is Love.
Beyoncé built her career from the ground up. Starting in a group and slowly cascading to the performer she is today, was quite the transformation. Fans will always love the strong, independent woman that she is and fans will always love the power duo that is Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
As for now, most are happy the two were able to reconcile their differences and proceed with their careers as well as being a united family staple to the world. Clearly, they wanted this joint album to reflect all that they have become together and the title speaks for itself when it comes to expressing that everything is love, especially for the Carter’s.
