This weekend is looking to be an incredible one as there are so many great games across the top flight European teams. There are a couple of local derbies that promise to delight us with top notch soccer. Also, there will be a classic in Germany and in Italy there will be a battle of historical teams. All in all, these matches are the best ones not just from Europe, but from around the world.
Atletico Madrid vs. Real Madrid
The league leaders, Atletico Madrid, will be taking on their arch rivals at the Wanda Metropolitano this Sunday. Los Colchoneros come defeating Villareal at their home two to cero. An own goal from the home team and a João Félix goal saw the league leaders win a crucial away game.
On the other hand, Los Blancos come from a tie at home against Real Sociedad on Monday. It was a blow to their title hopes as they could’ve been closer in points to their rival neighbors Atletico Madrid. They clearly missed Karim Benzema upfront, but he will be available for this clash.
Atletico Madrid sit five points ahead of Real Madrid pending a game with Athletic Bilbao which will be played on Wednesday, March 10. Dani Carvajal and Sergio Ramos have been ruled out of this match, while Eden Hazard and Eder Militia are in doubt for this encounter.
Whereas Atletico Madrid will welcome back the return of Kieran Trippier and Yannick Ferreira Carrasco. Indeed this is a big boost for Atletico Madrid who will look to maintain the top spot and keep their pursuers far away from them.
Indeed this Madrid Derby will be a great one as the best players in the world will be on the same pitch. We will see if Diego Simeone will change his tactics or if he will be more like his usual self and be more defensive. He was heavily criticized in the loss against Chelsea in the Champions League for being so defensive at home with a great team at his disposal.
All in all this match will be a great one and unquestionably it is the best game of the week in La Liga.
Manchester United vs. Manchester City
Manchester United sit second in the league table 14 points their city rivals Manchester City. The Citizens are playing some incredible soccer at the moment and seem unstoppable. The Red Devils come from a goalless draw against Crystal Palace this past Wednesday. While City thrashed Wolverhampton four goals to one.
United will look to close the gap to 11 points, however, City will look to increase their lead by 17 points. Nonetheless, this Manchester Derby will be a great one as plenty of great players will be playing on the pitch.
There is hope that French superstar Paul Pogba, could reappear for this. However, David de Gea and Anthony Martial look likely to miss this important game for Manchester United. Dean Henderson looks set to replace David de Gea once again just like he did this Wednesday.
No doubt this Manchester Derby is the main attraction in the Premier League and it doesn’t look like it will disappoint.
Bayern Munich vs. Borussia Dortmund
Der Klassiker, or in English, “The Classic” will take place this Saturday. Bayern Munich sit at the top of the league. Borussia Dortmund are in 5th place and are 13 points behind the Bavarians. Bayern Munich must win to keep their closest pursuers, RB Leipzig, behind them who are lurking with just two points behind them.
This match will see Robert Lewandowski vs Erling Haaland once again. Without a doubt that both players will be very important to their respective teams and will try to help their teams to get the much needed win.
Borussia Dortmund has been very inconsistent thus far, but will look to change that this weekend. Despite this, they still look like a real threat to Bayern Munich and will look to produce a major upset at the Allianz Arena. Indeed this is the biggest match up this week in the Bundesliga.
Juventus vs. Lazio
Juventus is having an inconsistent campaign thus far in the Serie A. Despite having the top goal scorer in Cristiano Ronaldo, they are third in the table with 49. They are seven points behind league leaders Inter Milan. Although, they have one pending game against Napoli that will take place on Wednesday, March 17.
Lazio have not played that well this year, but will look to bounce back to winning ways. They are currently in 7th place with 43 points. However, Lazio will be playing without Manuel Lazzari due to an injury. He has been one of their key players so far and will be heavily missed in the right back position. On the other hand, Juventus will welcome back Leonardo Bonucci and Matthijs de Ligt.
This match is a must win for both for the different circumstances that each team is facing. Juventus has to win to maintain their Scudetto hopes alive, while Lazio must win to be closer to the top four.
Great Soccer This Weekend
This weekend will be filled with lots of goals and drama no question about that. The best players from around the world will be on display. Important key matches will be played and the teams will hope to win to maintain their title hopes alive. Each team will do anything that they can to win and that is what will make each game worth watching and exciting.
