Clearly, the BET Hip Hop Awards will be filled with great entertainment this year. The awards will have comedians, actors, Karlous Miller, DC Young Fly and Chico Bean to co-host the annual show premiering Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

Honoring A Hip Hop Legend

Master P

Without a doubt, the BET Hip Hop Awards will be honoring hip hop legend Master P as the recipient of the 2020 “I Am Hip Hop” Award. Percy ‘Master P’ Miller started with plebeian beginnings and worked his way up to become a household name in hip hop. His hard work and determination led him to start his own record label No Limit Records. Ultimately, it became a big label in the hip hop scene and it is a legendary record label selling over 100 million records.

For one thing, it is great to see that BET is honoring Master P for his mark in hip hop. He was big in the 1990’s and he also went in to acting appearing in movies and TV shows. Also, he went into fashion, sports, and management. Now, he has his own food line, RAPSNACKS, Uncle P’s, and Hoody Hoos Cereals. No doubt he has found success in everything he has set his mind to. Deservingly, he is receiving this award and it is great they are giving it to him while he is still alive.

Stellar Performance Lineup

In addition to this, the stars who will be performing will definitely shine up the night. The lineup consists of, Lil Baby, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, City Girls, Burna Boy, Chris Martin, Jhené Aiko, Mulatto, Gucci Mane, Ty Dolla $ign, Quavo, and Tobe Nwigwe. It is a great lineup that’ll definitely keep the viewers entertained.

Top Nominees

Furthermore, DaBaby leads the nominations on the night with 12. He is closely followed by Roddy Rich with 11 nominations. Drake and Megan Thee Stallion are tied with eight each. Next is Future with six, Lil Baby with four, and with three nominations each are Travis Scott, Beyoncé, DJ Khaled, and Mustard.

DaBaby High Chances of Winning

Da Baby

In particular, DaBaby is nominated 12 times and has the clear advantage of winning a few of them. He is nominated in categories such as hip-hop artist of the year, best hip-hop video, song of the year, hip-hop album of the year, best collaboration, best live performer, lyricist of the year, and impact track just to name a few. He is clearly on his way of having probably the greatest year of his young career. This is definitely the year where he has taken over the game and he has solidified himself on the upper echelon.

Additionally, ‘Best New Hip Hop Artist’ Award nominees include Flo Milli, Jack Harlow, Mulatto, NLE Choppa, Pop Smoke, and Rod Wave. Also, the awards will have the category for BEST INTERNATIONAL FLOW. The nominees are, Djonga (BRAZIL), Kaaris (France), Khaligraph Jones (Kenya), Meryl (France), MS Banks (UK), Nasty C (South Africa), and Stormzy (UK).

Lyricist of the Year Controversy

Importantly, the nominees were given for lyricist of the year and it didn’t sit well with many people, one of them being Royce Da 5’9. He took to Instagram to share his thoughts on the matter. He wrote, “🤔 I been congregating in the wrong buildings, obviously …. I’m ciphering with a big ass @bumpboxx outside the next @rocnation brunch with the doorway blocked … Clearly he wasn’t thrilled of the nominees and many fans as well. Others questioned why wasn’t Eminem in the nominees as he dropped Music to Be Murdered By early in the year. Logic and Nas were not included in the nominees of this category even though they have some great lyrics in their recent work.

No Fans, No Problem

In spite of no fans, clearly the BET Hip Hop Awards will be jam packed with great music and entertainment. It would’ve been even better if there was fans, but sadly this year due to Covid-19, it will not happen. Nonetheless, this will not stop the award show from being one of the greatest of all time. It has great music, great artist, and great hosts. The show is packed with quality and it is a well rounded event. The energy of the fans will be missed and their noise as well.

BET Cypher

Certainly, the BET Cypher is one segment of the show that will no doubt have people talking about. For the past 14 years, this part of the show has produced some memorable moments. Having the best rappers spitting bars over classical instrumentals is what the fans love. Each rapper brings their A game and produces incredible rhymes and flows. Now question this year will be any different than the previous ones. Strictly bars and no hooks this showcases the level of rapping skills that an artist has. We will see who outshines who that night as social media will be buzzing about this.

Exhilarating Night

To conclude, the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards will have all the ingredients to have an amazing night. The awards offer everything a hip hop fan wants, great artist, great music, and great hosts. This night will be memorable and the people will be left with a satisfaction like no other. So have October 27 reserved for the night and just sit down, relax, and enjoy a quality night. The awards will be great so don’t forget to tune in to BET Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 9 PM ET/PT.
